Formerly known as Mahonia aquifolium. Though this seed source comes from the northern Sierra Nevadas, not the Rogue Basin, we are including it in this sale as an "assisted migration" collection. Habitat: Native to moist to dry forests, often found in shaded understory environments in the Pacific Northwest. Prefers acidic, well-drained soils. Container Growing Instructions: Cold stratification for 2-3 months is necessary for germination. Plant seeds in moist, well-drained soil. Moderate watering is needed, with partial shade being ideal for early growth.
