Seed Blitz: Mariposa Meadows – EVENT FULL

July 20, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

This event is full — please check out our other seed blitz dates this summer!

Event description: Join us as we hand-harvest native seed to be used in future restoration work at Mariposa Meadow. This high-elevation meadow is a more recent addition to the Cascade Siskiyou National Monument, and one that most visitors don’t visit due to a lack of established trails. Walk the meadow with us as we collect seeds from a variety of native grasses and forbs, with our BLM partners. Explore a fascinating habitat with local botanists and ecologists, learn how to ID and collect seed from native plants, and contribute to projects that will support the next generations of bees, butterflies, birds and other wildlife.

PLEASE RSVP HERE

Directions to the site and other details will be emailed one week before the event.

Restrooms may not available at the site.

All experience levels and ages are welcome. Come prepared to walk in tall grass and up moderate hills. Be aware that poison oak is plentiful at this site. Bring plenty of water, sun protection, sturdy shoes and gaiters (if you have them) to protect your ankles from poky seeds.
