Milkweed Pod Harvest – DONE for 2021!
September 17, 2021 @ 9:00 am - October 8, 2021 @ 12:00 pm

** Milkweed pod collection is concluded for 2021. Check back with us next year!
Milkweed is an essential plant for monarch butterflies, as well as many other pollinators. Rebuilding milkweed populations is only possible if we have the seed to do it with!
Our partners at the US Fish and Wildlife Service and the US Forest Service have several beds of milkweed plants producing seed pods at the J. Herbert Stone Nursery in Central Point. The pods need to be hand-collected, so volunteers are essential to this effort. We will harvest every Friday starting 9/17 until they are all collected.
The seed we collect will be used to create pollinator habitat on private properties through USFWS, as well as for habitat restoration on public lands in coastal areas through the Forest Service.
Please RSVP HERE.
