Gentner’s fritillary bulb planting day at Cascade-Siskiyou Monument
October 24 @ 12:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Join us for a day of fritillary bulb planting In partnership with the Oregon Department of Agriculture Native Plant Conservation Program, the Bureau of Land Management and RNPP!
Gentner’s fritillary is a very rare species of lily that only lives in Southern Oregon. Help their declining populations rebound by planting bulbs that were carefully grown in Corvallis for the past several years.
Please RSVP here
You can also meet us at near the planting site around noon. Here’s a map to the pull out off of old hwy 99. For an exact time to meet us please email email@example.com
At sites with moderate slopes we’ll be removing soil down to about 4 inches deep for the entire 1-meter-radius plots, then spreading the bulbs before covering them back up. At steep sites, we’ll be digging cross-slope trenches that are about 4 inches deep.
We will be digging through poison oak at some sites, so bringing some Tecnu or p.o. preventative may be worthwhile.
